LJ Reviews 2011 January #1

This follow-up to Weird Hauntings offers additional "true" ghost tales. Each entry is written by a different author, so they vary widely in tone and quality and are divided into categories, e.g., haunted cemeteries or schools. All the stories have photographs of the haunted place and often an illustration depicting the event as well as some historical background on the location. This well-done book features an attractive layout and quirky tales. Where possible, an exact address of the ghostly location is offered, so this could even serve as a guide for those interested in adding a haunted place or two to their travel itinerary. A detailed index is also included. VERDICT Readers interested in things that go bump in the night certainly will enjoy this, and with much of the country covered, some libraries might even find local history information.—Susan Flaherty, Portland P.L., ME
